Custom Software

Custom Software Maintenance in Tucson

We maintain custom software through documented intake, defect triage, dependency and security-update coordination, regression testing, release management, and lifecycle decisions—without promising uptime or error-free operation.

Intake and Triage Process

We set up a single intake channel—a support email, a form, or a ticketing system—where your team reports issues. Each issue is triaged based on severity, impact, and urgency. We define what counts as a critical issue (e.g., a data loss bug) versus a minor one (e.g., a cosmetic glitch). We document the triage criteria so you know how we prioritize. We also set expectations for response times, but we do not promise a specific resolution time for any issue.

Dependencies and Security Update Coordination

We maintain a list of all third-party libraries, frameworks, and services your software depends on. We monitor for security advisories and version updates. When a security update is needed, we assess the risk, test the update in a staging environment, and coordinate with you on a deployment window. We do not apply updates without testing. We also document which dependencies are pinned and why, so you know the constraints.

Defect Fixing and Regression Testing

Where practical, a defect is reproduced with a test before the change is made. The relevant regression suite and release checks are then run, with the observed cause, change, and unresolved risk documented. Testing lowers recurrence risk but does not prove software is bug-free or that a fix covers every environment.

Observability, Backups, and Lifecycle Decisions

We keep an eye on logs, metrics, and error tracking to catch issues before you do. We coordinate with your infrastructure team on backup schedules and recovery tests. We also document the lifecycle of the software: when a dependency goes end-of-life, when a feature is no longer used, and when it might be time to retire the software entirely. We present these decisions to you with data, but you make the call.

What the engagement can produce
